Service Overview

Specialist Tissue Examination for Accurate Diagnosis

Surgical histopathology involves the microscopic examination of biopsies and surgical specimens to identify disease, assess abnormal tissue changes and support accurate clinical diagnosis.

At Microlab, this service plays a vital role in helping referring clinicians better understand the nature of a lesion or condition, whether the findings are inflammatory, benign, pre-malignant or malignant. Each specimen is carefully processed and examined to provide clear, meaningful diagnostic information.

Our histopathology service covers a broad range of specimen types and anatomical sites, supporting both routine and complex cases. Tissue specimens may include those from the skin, breast, head and neck, respiratory tract, gastrointestinal system, hepatopancreaticobiliary system, gynaecological and urological regions, as well as renal, ophthalmic, bone, soft tissue and selected neurosurgical specimens.

Where appropriate, additional techniques such as immunohistochemistry may be used to provide further diagnostic clarification and help clinicians make informed management decisions.
