Non-Cervical Cytology

Cellular Diagnosis Across a Wide Range of Specimens

Microlab provides non-cervical cytology services for the diagnostic examination of cellular samples collected from a variety of sites and specimen types.

This service plays an important role in investigating abnormal masses, fluids and cellular changes, helping clinicians gain valuable diagnostic information without the need for larger tissue specimens in every case.

Our non-cervical cytology service supports accurate interpretation across a broad range of cases and contributes to timely clinical assessment and management.

Microlab accepts selected fine needle aspirate samples, including specimens from areas such as the breast, thyroid, lymph nodes, salivary glands and soft tissue masses.

Diagnostic cytology may be performed on pleural fluid, peritoneal fluid, urine, respiratory specimens and other appropriate cellular samples.

Where necessary, additional investigation or ancillary testing may be considered to further support interpretation and reporting.

Service Overview

Specialist Cytology Assessment Beyond Cervical Screening

Non-cervical cytology involves the microscopic examination of cells taken from areas other than the cervix. These specimens may be obtained through fine needle aspiration, body fluid sampling or other clinical collection methods.

At Microlab, this service supports the evaluation of abnormal cellular findings in a range of specimens, including aspirates, respiratory samples, urine and fluid samples. Cytology can help determine whether findings are inflammatory, reactive, benign or suspicious for malignancy.

By carefully examining cell morphology and clinical context, Microlab provides diagnostic information that supports further investigation, treatment planning or follow-up where necessary.
